Der Begriff „Anaphylaxie“ bezeichnet in der Fachsprache eine akut auftretende Reaktion, die mehrere Organsysteme beziehungsweise den ganzen Körper in Mitleidenschaft ziehen kann. Umgangssprachlich ist vor allem der „anaphylaktische Schock“ bekannt geworden, jener Zustand, bei dem Atemnot, Blutdruckabfall sowie Herz- und Kreislaufversagen binnen Minuten nach Kontakt mit einem Allergen zu einer lebensbedrohlichen Lage führen können.
