Anaphylaxis

The term "anaphylaxis" refers to an acute reaction that can affect several organ systems or the whole body. Colloquially, the "anaphylactic shock" has become known, the condition in which shortness of breath, drop in blood pressure and cardiac and circulatory failure can lead to a life-threatening situation within minutes of contact with an allergen.
